Episode 3 Scripts

Hello and welcome to another exciting edition of AMP. I’m Jimmy. AMP stands for Arlington Middle-School Producers. Middle school students come to the Arlington Studio to learn all the steps of producing a TV show: camerawork, hosting, directing, editing, and more. After students learn all the different positions, they use their knowledge to make their own news magazine program, with a new show each week.

On December 13th, the Regent Theatre will be presenting the first annual Rock ‘n Soul Holiday concert. This concert will feature many great musicians and performers and will help raise funds to support the Music Museum of New England’s mission of preserving New England music history. The Music Museum of New England is a non-profit organization based in Massachusetts, and is currently involved with the Bostonian Society to place markers for a Boston Music Trail of musically important historic locations funded in part by a grant from Ernie Bock Jr’s “Music Drives Us” Foundation. The diverse lineup taking the stage will include punk legend Willie Alexander, rock star Charlie Farren, blues great James Montgomery, rockers Ernie & The Automatics featuring Sib Hassian and Barry Goudreau (formerly of Boston), ‘60s-style “girl group” Jenny Dee and the Deelinquents, R&B/soul/garage-rock Andrea Gillis Band, singer-songwriters John Powhida and Ramona Silver, guitar stylist Mike Gent, and pop musician Brian Charles. Other surprise guests are expected to drop by and join in the revelry as two generations combine for a fun concert.

Black Friday this year was similar to years past, though the stock market didn’t fare as well. However, a new item hit the shelves and was snapped up by Christmas shoppers as fast as they could get it. This item was the Zhu Zhu, a children’s toy that resembles a robotic hamster. The majority of shoppers at Toys-R-Us came to buy them. The management had to set up a separate line into the store for these Zhu Zhu fanatics, who’d lined up around the block to get in. The store also handed out red tickets to these rodent-buyers, assuring that they’d get one before the stock ran out. The recession hasn’t suppressed the rampant consumers in the least. They seem almost to be buying more than ever. Apparently the holidays are always this way.

Soccer is a very popular sport for kids in Arlington. Kids can play soccer for the Arlington Soccer Club, or ASC from kindergarten all the way up to the 12th grade. There are many leagues within the ASC, too. Each league is for kids under a certain age. For instance, 8 year olds and some 9 year olds can play for the Under 9 age group, or U9 league. Also, as the age groups get older, there are travel teams. The leagues for older kids get split up between boys and girls, too. For information about fees, the league, or anything else about the ASC, go to arlingtonsoccerclub.com.

Before we wrap up sports for this week we would just like to congratulate Arlington Catholic on their win over Arlington High in this years Thanksgiving day football game. The final score of that game was AC 22, AHS 13. Good luck to the cougars in the upcoming playoffs.

Now it’s time for app review where we will tell you about the newest coolest apps for the iPod touch and iPhone. Today we are going to talk about asphalt 5 from gameloft. Asphalt 5 is one of the best-selling racing games in the app store. It has some of the most advanced and incredible graphics. It takes racing games to a whole new level with 8 different ways to race including "time attack", "cop chases", "last man standing", and more. The car lineup is amazing and has some of the best cars available from companies like Audi, Lamborghini, Ferrari, BMW and more. You can also access you car stereo while racing and load some tunes from your iPod onto it. This game sells for $6.99. I have found only one flaw in this game... the price. Other than that it is outstanding. I give this game a rating of 4 and 1/2 stars.

On December 12, Hammer of the Gods is performing a recreation of a Led Zeppelin concert. Led Zeppelin's music has spanned generations and now you can experience it all live. Hammer of the Gods recreates the sights, sounds, and mystical aura of the real Zeppelin concert. Imagine stepping back in time. It's 1973 and you are seated at New York's Madison Square Garden; 100,000 watts of sonic brilliance and a spectacular array of lights explode as the band performs flawless renditions of all your favorite songs including "Kashmir," "Dazed and Confused," "Stairway to Heaven," and the thunderous assault of the classic "Moby Dick."

And now it's time for the top five, where we interview a group of Ottoson students about their favorite and least favorite things. This week's topic is favorite candies. In number five is a Take 5 bar. Number four is Milky Way. There's a tie for third place with Kit-Kat bars and Twix. The runner up is snickers, and our top candy is...Reese’s cups! And, not surprisingly, all of the top sweets have chocolate in them.

Well that’s all we have for you today. All of us here at AMP would like to thank you for watching. I’m Jimmy. Make sure you join us again next week to get tuned in and amped up.
