Episode 1 Script

Hello and welcome to another exciting season of AMP. I’m Ben. AMP stands for Arlington Middle-School Producers. Middle school students come to the Arlington Studio to learn all the steps of producing a TV show: camerawork, hosting, directing, editing, and more. After students learn all the different positions, they use their knowledge to make their own news magazine program, with a new show each week.

The Arlington Health Department expects to be getting the swine flu vaccine soon - before the end of the year. Once they get it, they’ll start vaccinating residents immediately. The Department will be setting up small vaccination clinics, and will be giving the vaccine to specific “highest-risk” groups first, like children, healthcare workers, and people with health issues. Everyone in these and a few other groups will have access to the vaccine, but how fast they get it will depend the amount received by the Health Department.

At the ottoson the student planning team has put a box in almost every geography room. People can put there pennies and the pennies are given to an organization called pennies for peace. Pennies for peace gives their pennies mainly to asia and Africa. So if you have some spare pennies give a visit to the ottoson main office.

The local folk group, Family Folk Chorale is kicking off its Tenth Anniversary season with a concert celebrating the music of folk/rock legend Neil Young. The 60 member, multi-generational chorus, ranging in age from 4 to 86 years, presents Neil Young’s classic tunes such as “Sugar Mountain” and “Comes a Time” with other more recent material which focuses on environmental activism and global cooperation. Featuring the local teen rock band the Philaments, the Chorale will be performing at the Arlington town hall on November 15th at 3:00 P.M. This event will be the first FFC “Fans with Cans” event. "Fans with Cans" is a growing movement in which food donations are a regular part of public events: in this case, audience members are asked to bring canned or paper goods for the Arlington Food Pantry.

The Arlington Public Schools are having a winter concert on December 9 at 7 PM. The concert will include all OMS choruses and select chorus, the elementary orchestra, middle school orchestra, high school orchestra, chamber orchestra, the high school select orchestra, middle school band, high school band, Ottoson jazz band, and the high school jazz band, with genres ranging from classical to pop and jazz. Be sure to be there!

And now for some news from the USA and beyond. Microsoft Windows Seven has just been released. It contains a lot of fixes for bugs that were in Vista, along with some other features. There are three versions of Windows Seven, being: Home Premium, Professional, and Ultimate. The Professional and Ultimate come with more features and compatibility than the Home, but all of them promise to be better than Vista. Microsoft is having a special discount for people currently using Vista, as a sort of ‘past user special”. Many Vista users are taking advantage of this and having their PCs updated. Release parties were and are being held across the country in celebration of the new OS.

It is known through Arlington that both Arlington Catholic and Arlington High School both have good football teams. It is also known that there is a rivalry between the two teams. This rivalry has sparked a recently started annual event. It is a game played between the two teams at the AHS field that they share. And it is on one of the greatest days for football - Thanksgiving. Fans from both schools attend to cheer on their school. Also, last year, after beating AHS, AC went on to win many games, and a tournament that the last game was played at Gillette Stadium.

And now it's time for the top five, where we interview a group of Ottoson students about their favorite or least favorite items. This week's topic is *favorite sandwiches*!

In number five, but only by a little, is a plain turkey sandwich.

In number four we have a peanut butter sandwich.

number three is a tie between plain cheese and cheese with turkey.

For the title of number two we have another tie between steak and cheese or a B L T.

With a strong first place by over twenty percent of the votes is the old classic: Peanut Butter and Jelly!

Next time on the top five we will take a look at music styles.

Well that’s all we have for you today. All of us here at AMP would like to thank you for watching. I’m Ben. Make sure you join us again next week to get tuned in and amped up.
